Emery Advices Nakamba Ahead Of Midfielder’s Aston Villa Departure

Aston Villa coach Unai Emery has given out-of-favour Zimbabwean star Marvelous Nakamba some advice ahead of the player’s imminent exit from the club.

Nakamba, who has struggled for game time at the English Premier League side to the point of not featuring in any competitive game this season, has been transfer-listed and is most likely to leave this month.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Emery, who took over from former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as Villa coach in October, revealed that he had a conversation with Nakamba about the Hwange-raised midfielder’s situation and gave him some guidance. Said Emery:

Nakamba, I spoke with him and the idea is to leave and take minutes in another team.

He has to try and get back to his performance that he did last year and two years ago but now he doesn’t have space in the squad and he can’t wait, to stay here. He knows, and as well as other players could leave.

Nakamba, whose contract at Villa expires in June 2024, has until the end of this month (end of the transfer window) to find a new club.

Nakamba joined Aston Villa from Club Brugge KV, a Belgian professional football club in the summer of 2019. He signed a five-year contract with the club.
